Vale de Fornos

Colheita Especial

vale-de-fornos- image

The estate Quinta Vale de Fornos has a rich history in winemaking, with strong ties to Portuguese noble families. This estate was a wedding gift from D. Antónia Ferreira (Ferreirinha) to her daughter when marrying the Azambuja Count the 3rd. Here we may find a XVIII century manor house, marble stone lagares and an impressive collection of wood “toneis” (large scale barrels). From the 50 hectares of vinyards, planted in a complex terroir, inbetween the wine regions of Lisboa and Tejo, wines are developed that impress both in terms of quality and character. This wine is a blend of two of the most iconic red native grapes and two of the most planted international grapes in Portugal. This year was extremely hot both in Spring and Summer. Nonetheless, it was possible to create this wine with moderate alcohol content given the fantastic balance of our vineyards.
